Bentley announces project finalists in 2012 Be Inspired Awards competition

EXTON, PA. — Bentley Systems Inc. announced the project finalists in the 2012 Be Inspired Awards competition and the seven winners of the 2012 Be Inspired Special Recognition Awards. The awards honor the extraordinary work of Bentley users improving and sustaining the world’s infrastructure. Five independent panels of jurors, comprising accomplished Bentley users and distinguished industry experts, selected the 58 finalists and the Special Recognition Awards candidates from nominations submitted by organizations in 39 countries.

The winners of the Be Inspired Awards will be announced at the invitation-only Be Inspired: Innovations in Infrastructure event taking place Nov. 13-14, 2012, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

“Our Be Inspired Awards program this year drew exceptionally strong project nominations of the highest caliber from the four corners of the globe,” Bentley Systems COO Malcolm Walter said. “They represented every major category of infrastructure asset and spanned small to mega projects — from electric substations, mining facilities, water distribution networks, and water and wastewater treatment plants to airport expansions, energy-efficient buildings, major bridges, road and rail transportation systems, renewable energy and clean power plants, offshore structures, and much more. As diverse as these projects are, they each exemplify the extraordinary intelligent infrastructure that can be realized when architects, engineers, builders, geospatial professionals, and owner-operators work smarter, together — among themselves and with the Bentley team — leveraging information modeling through integrated projects, facilitated by information mobility. I congratulate all of the finalists and look forward to their presentations in Amsterdam as we enter the final leg of the Be Inspired competition.”

Candidates for Bentley’s fourth annual Be Inspired Special Recognition Awards were placed into nomination by the jurors for their uniquely innovative and visionary achievements embracing multiple Be Inspired Awards categories. The nominees were then reviewed by a panel of Bentley executives. This year’s seven winners were recognized for exemplary accomplishments in the following categories: Return on Innovation, Sustaining Our Society, Sustaining Our Environment, Sustaining the Professions, Advancing Information Mobility, Innovation in Asset Performance Management, and Bentley Developer Network Award.

Commenting on the 2012 Special Recognition Awards winners, Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley said, “This year’s Special Recognition Awards winners are inspiring projects delivered by some of the world’s most distinguished infrastructure organizations. To our traditional list of award categories we’ve added acknowledgements for achievement in three key areas: information mobility, the payoff for interoperability; asset performance, the goal of all owner-operators; and Bentley Developer Network innovations, the technology contributions that further extend the utility and value of Bentley products and solutions. On behalf of my colleagues at Bentley, I congratulate this year’s Special Recognition Awards recipients and thank them for their remarkable accomplishments.”
