Parsons Brinckerhoff names new CEO

Pierson as the firm’s Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2010. Mr. Pierson, currently president and COO of the firm’s Americas division, succeeds Keith J. Hawksworth, who becomes chairman. Mr. Pierson, who will continue as president and COO of PB’s Americas division, assumes the management of a professional services company with 15,000 employees in 150 offices worldwide and 2009 revenues of $2.1 billion. PALO ALTO, CALIF. — HP introduced inertial sensing technology that enables the development of digital micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometers that it says are as much as 1,000 times more sensitive than high-volume products currently available. Hydropower upgrades to yield added generation without new dams
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced up to $30.6 million in Recovery Act funding for selection of seven hydropower projects that modernize hydropower infrastructure by increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impacts at existing facilities. The expanded hydro generation projects have estimated incremental costs of less than 4 cents per kWh on average.
