Woods Hole Group opens new office in Brazil 

FALMOUTH, MASS. — Woods Hole Group announced the opening of its newest office in Brazil. The Cape Cod-based company, with headquarters in East Falmouth, Mass., has opened the new facility to support the offshore oil & gas industry, port development agencies, and the coastal engineering needs in the bourgeoning Brazilian marketplace. In Brazil, Woods Hole Group will operate as Woods Hole Group do Brasil Ltda, Servicios em Oceanografia.

Andre Vitta will be managing the office under the guidance of Robert Catalano, vice president of science operation for Woods Hole Group Inc. Vitta holds a Master of Science degree in physical, chemical, and geological oceanography Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), Brasil. Vitta will operate the office located in Recreio Dos Bandeirantes (suburb of Rio de Janeiro).

“Opening this new facility in Brazil will give us greater access to participate with Brazilian entities on their various coastal and oceanographic needs. It is an opportunity to bring our work and dedication to a sustainable global environment to another corner of the world and we look forward to having an impact in the region,” said President and CEO Denis Aubrey. “As we approach our 25th anniversary, this is an exciting addition to our company.

With offices in Falmouth and Orleans, Mass., as well as Delaware and Texas, the Brazilian facility is Woods Hole Group's fifth office.
