Toronto Transit Commission awards three contracts to HDR|iTRANS

TORONTO, ONTARIO — The Toronto Transit Commission has awarded three major contracts to HDR|iTRANS for the following services:

• TTC Easier Access Station Accessibility Program. This 10-year program is designed to make the city’s 40 subway stations handicap accessible.

• Toronto Downtown Rapid Transit Expansion Study. The study will examine need and expansion alternatives for Toronto’s downtown rapid transit network. The study will provide information on capacity, technology, commuter rail, light rail transit, and streetcar networks, which will result in a long-term rapid transit master plan. The first phase of the study is anticipated to be complete by early 2011.

• TTC Value Engineering Consulting Services. This program entails multiple value engineering assignments for Toronto’s Transit City Program, a $17.5 billion rapid transit program that includes approximately 75km of light rail. VE assignments will look at guideway and station design and multiple maintenance facilities.
