DEERFIELD, ILL. — When you think of the most influential civil engineering professionals — whether they’re involved in consulting, education, nonprofits, publishing, public service, or the military — who do you think of and why? CE News magazine will honor some of these leaders in its second annual 2011 Power List in the April issue and is seeking nominations of people to consider. Often times, the work of a civil engineer is overlooked — figuratively and literally because of the many unseen, underground projects on which they work. Yet, it’s obvious that the work of civil engineers affects the lives of virtually everyone in the world. And while the industry struggles with issues such as an aging infrastructure, sustainability, limited water resources, and energy conservation, it is the relentless efforts of individuals that are leading the charge in developing solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges. But we realize civil engineers can be modest about their accomplishments. That’s why we’d like to ask any civil engineering-related professional to nominate one or more of their peers for consideration in our prestigious Power List.
