Testing and modeling concrete performance

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is sponsoring the 2009 Concrete Technology Forum: Focus on Testing and Modeling, scheduled for May 13 -15 at the Westin Cincinnati. The forum will bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research, tools, and solutions for testing and modeling concrete performance.

Ten technical and general sessions are scheduled for the two-day symposium, featuring more than 30 papers and presentations from nationally renowned researchers and practitioners. Researchers, engineers, architects, contractors, concrete producers, public works officials, material suppliers, and concrete industry professionals are invited to attend the symposium. Attendees can earn as many as 11 professional development hours, depending on the number of sessions attended.

Topics include the following:

  • testing and modeling hardened properties;
  • testing for concrete applications;
  • testing and modeling plastic properties; and
  • performance prediction and testing.

In addition, a product expo featuring companies that offer products and services for testing and modeling concrete performance will be open during the conference. Visit www.concretetechnologyforum.org to register for the symposium and to find additional information on exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
