Stantec awarded Federal Transit Administration contract for project management oversight

LOS ANGELES — As part of a recently awarded federal contract from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Stantec Consulting has been assigned project management oversight (PMO) services on three transit authority projects in targeted regions of the U.S. The PMO services are the first projects to be facilitated by Stantec for the FTA, following the finalization of a five-year, task-order contract, valued up to $13.8 million. Support from Stantec will come from multiple locations, with operational direction and leadership sourced from its Los Angeles and Denver offices.

Stantec’s initial projects for the FTA will include PMO services for enhancements to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority for its Canal Street Car program, the Fort Worth Transportation Authority on its Southwest Northeast Commuter Rail Program, and Austin Capital Metro Transportation Authority for its Bus Rapid Transit program. Stantec Transportation Principal Larry Hazzard is serving as program manager.

As PMO consultants to the FTA, Stantec will provide technical and financial management assistance to local transit agencies, to ensure funds allotted to local grantees are being used efficiently and effectively. Services include reviewing, auditing, monitoring, and reporting to FTA leadership on progress with plan implementation while ensuring capital programs are adequately staffed and executed.

The FTA PMO contract contributes to a wide scope of experience held by Stantec in servicing dozens of transit clients from coast to coast throughout North America.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1
