SPAR Point Group announces launch of SPAR EUROPE 2010

PORTLAND, MAINE — SPAR Point Group announced the dates and venue for its first European based conference on 3D imaging for design, construction, manufacturing, and security planning. SPAR EUROPE will be held in conjunction with Plant-Tech 2010, the European Plant Engineering and Design Conference, Dec. 7-8, 2010 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center, the Netherlands.

“Engineering, construction, manufacturing, and security planning organizations capture, process and serve up 3D every day. How efficiently they do it drives productivity and mitigates risk – competence with 3D is a must. The pace of innovation in 3D technologies is relentless – 3D laser scanning, mobile data capture, high dynamic range and high resolution photography, image processing, and integration with CAD and GIS are all disrupting business as usual, “says Tom Greaves, managing director, SPAR Point Group. “SPAR EUROPE will help European engineering, construction, operations, and security planning professionals understand which 3D tools and workflows really deliver business value and how.”

The 2011 conference incorporates Plant-Tech’s specialty of technologies for plant design, plant engineering, and plant information management along with SPAR’s workshops and technical seminars on the business and technology of capturing, managing, and integrating 3D information.

This conference will bring together plant owner operators, EPC contractors, and information management solution providers, as well as managers and engineers in the European oil and gas industry, manufacturing companies, civil and transportation infrastructure engineering firms, industrial metrologists, geotechnical and mining firms, and land surveyors.

Plant-Tech was recently acquired by SPAR Point Group’s parent company Diversified Business Communications. Diversified Business Communications, based in Portland, Maine, provides information and market access through face-to-face events, magazine publishing, and eMedia on four continents. Diversified operates divisions in Australia, Hong Kong, India, the UK, and Canada.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

While 2011 didn't offer too much progress in an economic turnaround, it seems that many people in the architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P) and environmental consulting industries are adjusting to challenges. For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
