SCS Engineers recognized as Climate Action Leader

LONG BEACH, CALIF. — The California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) has named SCS Engineers (SCS) a Climate Action Leader. This distinction is awarded to CCAR members that have voluntarily compiled, verified and publicly reported their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

CCAR commended SCS for its participation in the nation’s most rigorous voluntary GHG reporting program. CCAR reviewed SCS’s third-party verified 2007 & 2008 GHG emissions inventory and found it meets the standards of its General Reporting Protocol.

"As environmental consultants and contractors, we are keenly aware of the impact of GHG emissions on the climate,” said Pat Sullivan, senior vice president for SCS Engineers. “We want to do our part to track, and ultimately reduce, GHG emissions. This is one small step towards that goal. As an accredited verifier ourselves, we must be willing to 'walk the walk' when it comes to reporting our GHG emissions.”

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

While 2011 didn't offer too much progress in an economic turnaround, it seems that many people in the architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P) and environmental consulting industries are adjusting to challenges. For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
