Participate in the CE News annual compensation survey

CE News and Structural Engineer launched the 2009 Compensation Survey for practicing civil or structural engineers. Results of the survey, to be published in the June issues of CE News and Structural Engineer, provide insight into benefit and compensation trends within the civil and structural engineering professions. The online survey takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. All information submitted will be kept completely confidential.

Of particular interest this year is how the recession is affecting civil and structural engineers’ salaries, bonuses, and benefits in both the public and private sectors, as well as the impact of layoffs, if any. Additional topics covered by the survey include time-off policies, insurance benefits, firm size, education level, licensing, and years of experience.

Participants who complete the entire survey will receive a $100 discount on the registration fee for both the Civil Engineers’ Summit & Expo, scheduled for April 21-22, 2009, in Los Angeles, and the Structural Engineers’ Buildings Conference & Expo, scheduled for Nov. 5-6, 2009, in Chicago. Look for the discount code after submitting your responses and clicking "Done" on the last page.

Click here to participate in the 2009 Compensation Survey, which will remain open during the month of February.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

While 2011 didn't offer too much progress in an economic turnaround, it seems that many people in the architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P) and environmental consulting industries are adjusting to challenges. For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
