New registration options available for Environmental Connection 2009

To help ease the financial impact of attending Environmental Connection 2009 (EC09), the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) implemented new registration options that make full-conference participation more affordable. For one flat rate, conference attendees will have access to the expo hall, half-day courses, Monday’s field tour, technical presentations, and conference activities—including special tours—for the entire conference. This full-conference registration will also include all lunches and the expo hall Grand Opening Celebration. Full-day training courses are available at an additional cost.

"We feel that one flat price for the basic registration will help reduce the impact that conference delegates in many areas are feeling from the economic slowdown," says Russell Adsit, IECA executive director.

Additionally, along with its partners, Erosion and Sediment Control Network (ESCN.tv) and Land & Water magazine, IECA is giving away two full-conference registrations to EC09 and three nights lodging at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno with the "I’m a survivor" contest. From now until Nov. 19, 2008, ESCN.tv viewers have the opportunity to answer a new question every week and be entered in a drawing to win this grand prize. Additional details are available at www.escn.tv.

IECA’s annual conference and expo attracts more than 2,000 attendees and 160 exhibitors. EC09, Feb. 9-13, 2009, in Reno, Nev., features more than 20 full-day training courses and new technical sessions that have been organized into tracks. Course descriptions and registration information are available online at www.ieca.org/conference/annual/ec.asp.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

While 2011 didn't offer too much progress in an economic turnaround, it seems that many people in the architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P) and environmental consulting industries are adjusting to challenges. For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
