New office supports growing business in Latin America

LIMA, PERU — MWH, an international wet infrastructure sector company and provider of environmental engineering, construction, and strategic consulting services, announced that its Peru office is moving to a larger location in Lima’s San Isidro district. The transition will help accommodate the company’s growing local workforce of more than 220 and will better enable MWH to expand services in the following areas:

  • Hydrogeological, geotechnical, geochemical, hydrological, and water quality evaluation
  • Environmental planning, permitting, and compliance monitoring
  • Mine waste management, reclamation, and closure planning and construction monitoring
  • Civil and geotechnical infrastructure development
  • Mine water supply, management, and treatment
  • Ecological services and natural resource management
  • Hydropower and energy
  • Contaminated site remediation

The company also announced that Andrew H. Watson, formerly the mine closure practice leader, will serve as the new country manager for MWH in Peru.

“The MWH operations in Peru have seen unprecedented growth across many of our service offerings, including hydroelectric power services, water, and wastewater, with particular growth in the mining sector,” said Rex Bell, director of Latin America operations for MWH. “The new location and the appointment of Andrew to the top post will help MWH Peru continue this growth.”

Prior to joining MWH in 2006, Watson worked for 15 years in the mining industry, including several years in Peru. A native of South Africa, he speaks Spanish fluently and is a registered professional engineer. Watson brings expertise in planning, engineering, construction, project management, and risk evaluation for infrastructure projects.
