DETROIT — Showing its commitment to vibrant communities, Giffels-Webster is moving its headquarters to its existing Detroit office, and its Oakland County location to a new Birmingham, Mich. office. The civil engineering and surveying firm’s Detroit office is expanding its existing space to accommodate triple the staff. It will house the executive offices and accounting department, as well as teams of civil engineers and surveyors — making it the company’s largest office. Giffels-Webster is currently applying for headquarters status with the city of Detroit.

“As a company dedicated to improving the quality of life in communities, we are reinforcing our commitment to existing downtowns that represent the values of urban renewal and walkability,” said Scott Clein, P.E., LEED AP, executive vice president at Giffels-Webster Engineers and head of the Detroit office. “Others have thrown out the challenge for businesses to move downtown, and we’re following that lead. We’ve been working in Detroit for more than 16 years and moving our headquarters is a great way to help increase our investment in the city’s revival.”

A few of Giffels-Webster’s Detroit projects include: Children’s Hospital of Michigan Pediatric Specialty Clinic, Detroit Public Schools’ Denby High School and Finney-Crockett High School, Corktown-Mexicantown Greenlink, Garden View Estates, the West Vernor Streetscape, and surveying projects such as the Wayne County Remonumentation Program and Wayne County Consolidated Jail Facility.

Giffels-Webster also is working with local Detroit organizations, such as the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC), on its headquarters status.

While growing its Detroit presence, Giffels-Webster remains deeply involved with projects and communities throughout southeast Michigan. Previously, Giffels-Webster’s Oakland County office was in an industrial park and will now be located near downtown Birmingham.
