Gannett Fleming acquires VANUS Inc.

HARRISBURG, PA. — Gannett Fleming has announced that VANUS Inc. has become the VANUS Group of Gannett Fleming (VANUS). Effective March 1, VANUS is now part of the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) practice in GeoDecisions, a division of Gannett Fleming specializing in geospatial solutions and ITS.

Through the acquisition of VANUS, GeoDecisions has broadened its ITS capabilities, significantly increased its ITS staff, and expanded the firm’s national footprint, while preserving its commitment to providing exceptional client service and technical expertise, officials said.

“We have been making strategic choices and working hard to grow the GeoDecisions ITS practice. The acquisition of VANUS is another step in the right direction,” said Anthony J. Pietropola, president of GeoDecisions. “Through our combined talents and skills, we can advance mobility, improve transportation networks, and solve the most demanding business and technology challenges that our clients face.”

Through the acquisition, officials said the firms have combined their experience, including VANUS’ skills in ITS system integration and GeoDecisions’ strong background in working with more than 35 departments of transportation, to offer an array of services in ITS planning, ITS engineering, traffic engineering, ITS construction management and ITS software.

“We are excited to join the Gannett Fleming community as part of the GeoDecisions division,” Calhoun said. “Together, I am confident that we will provide current and new clients with professionalism, innovation, and technical expertise.”
