PITTSBURGH — GAI Consultants, Inc., completed a merger with Bonar Group, a Fort Wayne, Ind.-based consulting and engineering firm. Bonar Group provides engineering, surveying, and planning services for municipal and commercial clients and has a staff of more than 60 located in five offices throughout the Midwest.

According to GAI President and CEO Gary M. DeJidas, the Bonar Group is a complementary fit for GAI and will expand the company’s geographic footprint in the Midwest and strengthen GAI’s technical capabilities.

Founded in 1976, Bonar Group is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., with additional offices in Indianapolis, Valparaiso, and Scottsburg, Ind. Bonar Group President Tom Cicero will serve as GAI vice president and manager of the company’s Midwest operations, which also include offices in Ohio and Kentucky.

GAI’s latest expansion caps a year of growth in 2009. Last year, GAI opened new offices in Murrysville, Pa.; Mount Laurel, N.J.; Tampa, Fla.; Boca Raton, Fla.; Richmond, Va.; and Charlotte, N.C.
