From the Editor: DOTs supporting multiple CAD platforms and instituting better standards

Departments of Transportation (DOTs) aren’t just focusing attention on infrastructure projects, but also on the processes and technologies that support the design, construction, and management of their vast assets. In fact, a current trend among DOTs is to establish workflow standards and drafting standards that will improve efficiencies for their staff. Further, DOTs are opening up the options for their consultants so that they can choose the CAD platform that will meet a project’s and design engineer’s specific needs, rather than what is standard for the agency. Said plainly, some DOTs have implemented Autodesk software in addition to others.

Learn more about these DOT trends by attending a free webcast tomorrow, July 29, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Adams, P.E., senior vice president and managing principal, Bohannan Huston, Inc., and Karen Weiss, P.E., technical marketing manager for Autodesk.
