Comparative study suggests most promising markets in 2010

WAYLAND, MASS. — ZweigWhite's newest publication, the 2010 AEC Industry Outlook: Strategy and Insight for Design & Construction Firms, reveals a contrast of opinion between industry consultants and architecture, engineering, and environmental firm leaders about the projected "Hot" markets for 2010. In the 2010 AEC Business Trends Survey conducted in conjunction with the development of ZweigWhite's annual Outlook report, firm leaders expect the Government/Municipal market to lead all others in 2010. ZweigWhite consultants anticipate that this market will perform well, but expects that the Health Care market will maintain its top spot.

The availability of federal funding that flowed from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 passed in February 2009 boosted the federal, state, and local public markets, and firm leaders are expecting that funding in these areas will continue to stay strong through 2010. As a result, firm leaders expect the Government/Municipal market to outpace all others in 2010.

However, despite the new availability in funding, ZweigWhite anticipates that some of these gains will be tied up in process and the funding could flow out more slowly than expected, potentially slowing the growth of the market in the coming year.

The new report from ZweigWhite examines all of the major markets served by design and construction firms and identifies the key trends that will affect the AEC business in 2010 and beyond. This electronic report is available from ZweigWhite for $295. Copies can be ordered online at www.zweigwhite.com. A free Executive Summary is also available for download.
