Apply now for the Best Firms To Work For ranking

Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 Best Firms To Work For rankings. Civil engineering, structural engineering, environmental service, and architecture firms have opportunity to participate in the newly expanded program hosted by ZweigWhite’s CE News, Structural Engineer, and Environmental Business Journal. The application deadline is April 4, 2008. Details are available at www.bestfirmsummit.com.

This year, the CE News Best Civil Engineering Firms To Work For, the Structural Engineer Best Structural Engineering Firms To Work For, and the ZweigWhite Best Architecture Firms To Work For rankings are joined by a new ranking: the Environmental Business Journal/CE News Best Environmental Service Firms To Work For. This new list provides opportunity for firms providing environmental consulting and engineering, remediation/industrial services, testing and analytical services, and hazardous waste management to earn recognition for maintaining a great workplace and achieving high levels of employee satisfaction.

All of the rankings are hosted concurrently, so if your firm meets the requirements for more than one list, such as the environmental service and civil engineering lists or the structural and civil engineering lists, you can apply to both lists at the same time.

Visit www.bestfirmsummit.com for detailed instructions and requirements to apply, or contact Rachel Ward-Sullivan at rwardsullivan@zweigwhite.com or 800-466-6275, ext. 262.

The final rankings will be presented at the Best Firm To Work For Summit on Sept. 18, 2008, in San Francisco. The two-day learning event focuses on creating a great workplace, and retaining and attracting staff. All engineering and architecture firm presidents, human resource managers, and other leaders with interest in workplace issues are encouraged to attend, including but not limited to those that participate in the ranking program.

Civil engineering industry outlook - Part 1

While 2011 didn't offer too much progress in an economic turnaround, it seems that many people in the architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P) and environmental consulting industries are adjusting to challenges. For 2012, increased stability is expected, although large changes don't seem likely.
