LOS ANGELES — Transportation-related concerns remain a primary focus of local, state, and federal elected representatives and officials, particularly as a growing U.S. population places greater demand for the efficient movement of people and goods across land, sea, and air.

The 13th Annual Transportation & Infrastructure Summit, held in Irving, Texas, Aug. 10-13, 2010, and co-sponsored by AECOM, will provide leaders from government, public institutions, and the private sector a key forum to explore the challenges, opportunities, and implications related to U.S. transportation policy, investment, and technologies.

The summit also includes the 3rd Annual Global High Speed Rail Forum, reflecting the increasing importance of this transportation mode as a key element for current and future passenger and commuter mobility.

Along with the company’s co-sponsorship of the summit, AECOM executives will lead or participate in four panel discussions, including two focused on high-speed rail: Al Engel, vice president and high-speed rail director, will lead a special general session on regional high-speed rail corridor initiatives; Raymond Ellis, Ph.D, managing director, alternative delivery group, will participate in a panel session on financing high-speed rail; Rachel Vandenberg, vice president, intermodal practice, will participate in a panel session focused on preparing for the 2014 Panama Canal expansion; and Robert Lepore, senior vice president, North American transportation planning, will participate in a panel session on rail transit’s community impact.
