AECOM appoints chief sustainability officer 

LOS ANGELES — AECOM Technology Corporation, a provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, announced a key executive appointment as the company continues to grow its business globally.

Gary Lawrence has joined the company as vice president and chief sustainability officer. Lawrence will serve as the visionary for AECOM’s sustainability operations, managing the company’s breadth of resources and skills in sustainability for projects across the company.

“We are excited to welcome Gary to AECOM,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM president and chief executive officer. “His extensive global sustainability experience will benefit us greatly as we continue to enhance and sustain the world’s built, natural, and social environments.”

Lawrence joins AECOM from Arup, a global firm of consulting engineers, designers, planners and project managers, where he served as urban strategies leader. His 20 years of global sustainability experience also include serving as advisor to U.S. President Clinton’s Administration Council on sustainable development, the United Nations’ Habitat II, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Brazilian President's Office, the British Prime Minister's Office, the European Academy for the Urban Environment in Berlin, and the Organization for Economic and Community Development in Paris on matters of sustainable development and environmental policy.
