CMAA certifies 1,600th CCM
MCLEAN, VA. – The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) certified its 1,600th Certified Construction Manager (CCM) in July. The CCM program is administered by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI), a subsidiary of CMAA, and accredited by the American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) under international standard ISO 17024.
It took about 24 months for the CMCI to move from its 1,000th CCM to its 1,300th – but only 15 months to enroll the next 300 and reach the current level. Of the 1,600 people who currently hold the CCM credential, 35 percent have achieved it since the beginning of 2010.
Non-profit organization founded to further excellence of building documentation
IRVINE, CALIF – A group of owners, architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors, and technologists recently formed the United States Institute of Building Documentation (USIBD), a non-profit organization. The group is dedicated "to furthering excellence of building documentation by promoting, educating, guiding, and supporting stakeholders with an interest in the built environment in a way that cultivates a culture of networking and information sharing."
"Our vision is to be the leading resource for the building documentation industry," said John Russo, AIA, a founding committee member who is serving as president. The group is currently composed of nine founding members representing a cross section of building industry professionals. USIBD will be adding to its membership later in the year. ECTC releases guidelines for sediment retention fiber roll
ST. PAUL, MINN. – The Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) recently approved and published a comprehensive General Usage and Installation Guideline for Sediment Retention Fiber Roll (SRFR). These guidelines are the product of consensus among leading manufacturers of SRFRs and are designed to satisfy the needs of engineers and designers and other end-users of these products. The guidelines provide expert information on appropriate application and spacing along with key elements for successful product performance.
