ANSI accredits NPCA Plant Certification Program
CARMEL, IND. — The National Precast Concrete Association’s (NPCA) Plant Certification Program was accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ANSI accreditation means that NPCA has demonstrated that its Plant Certification Program is consistently administered in accordance with international standards. NPCA has certified 365 plants.
WaterPro Conference registration open
DUNCAN, OKLA. — The National Rural Water Association opened registration for the 2012 WaterPro Conference, to be held Sept. 24-26 in Nashville, Tenn. WaterPro brings together professionals from water and wastewater utility systems — large and small, municipal and rural — for sessions in operations, management, boardsmanship, and governance. This year’s conference is co-located with the Ground Water Protection Council’s annual conference.

ISA announces water/wastewater symposium keynote
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — The International Society of Automation (ISA) announced that at the 2012 ISA Water/Wastewater and Automatic Controls (WWAC) Symposium, Aug. 7-9 in Orlando, Fla., Celine Hyer, a long-time American Water Works Association (AWWA) member, will present a keynote address entitled, “Facing Utility Challenges: Managing Risk and Addressing Aging Infrastructure Needs.” Hyer is a principal consultant with Red Oak Division of Malcolm Pirnie/ARCADIS in Tampa, Fla.
Tom DeLaura, Water Environment Federation (WEF) Automation and Info Tech Committee chair, also will give a guest presentation on automation technology trends in the wastewater sector. DeLaura, vice president of Eramosa Engineering International, is a long-time member of both ISA and WEF and has a career in the wastewater sector that spans more than 38 years.

ACI released 2012 Manual of Concrete Practice
FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH. — The American Concrete Institute (ACI) released the 2012 edition of the Manual of Concrete Practice (MCP), containing more than 220 documents needed to answer questions about code requirements, specifications, tolerances, concrete proportions, construction methods, evaluation of test results, and many more topics. The MCP also includes the 2011 version of ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary. The MCP is available in a traditional hard copy version, which contains a set of six books and a separate index; an easy-to-use CD-ROM version; or an online version.
