Specifications software
Bentley Systems Incorporated acquired SpecWave software that helps architectural, engineering, construction, and operations professionals author and configure structured text content, including engineering specifications and related codes and standards. SpecWave makes specifications an integral aspect of information modeling, creating text objects to be change-managed by Bentley's eB Insight – facilitating and enforcing enterprise, project, and owner standards, and delivering documents that are rigorous, controlled, and connected throughout the project and asset lifecycle, Bentley said.

Green roof monitoring system
The 15-channel system enables users to quickly and easily monitor green roof conditions, measure stormwater runoff, improve irrigation scheduling, and maintain healthy rooftop vegetation. Features include 24/7 Web-based access to data; common green roof measurements including temperature, relative humidity, wind, soil moisture, light intensity, and rainfall; plug-and-play sensors that enable fast easy deployment; customizable data display for kiosks; and trend logging, monitoring, and alarm notifications.

Waterproofing membrane
W.R. Meadows' MEL-ROL self-adhering waterproofing membrane is a flexible, roll-type waterproofing membrane ideal for waterproofing foundations, vertical walls, and below-grade floors in residential and commercial construction. According to the company, it is equally effective for use as between-the-slab waterproofing on plaza decks, parking decks, structural slabs, and pedestrian tunnel projects. MEL-ROL is available in a low-temperature version for use when air and surface temperatures are between 20° F and 60° F; an extra-low-temperature version is available for temperatures down to 0º F.

Alignment optimization software
Softree Technical Systems Inc., in association with the University of British Columbia, developed RoadEng-Optimal software to determine the optimal alignment for corridor-based infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, pipelines, and channels. The software automatically determines the lowest-cost vertical alignment based on design speed, cross section configuration, and horizontal alignment. It accounts for excavation, grading, and material movement costs. According to the company, RoadEng-Optimal will accommodate detailed design conditions that allow it to be applied at any stage of the design process or used to evaluate existing designs.

Mine planning software
Maptek's Vulcan 8.2 software includes a new Rapid Pit Design tool to allow mine planning engineers to quickly create mid-bench based designs and generate phases and reserve reports. According to the company, with this tool users can evaluate multiple designs in the same amount of time traditionally spent to create a single design. Vulcan 8.2 also includes a new Support Analysis tool for resource validation and forecasting with practical applications in all stages of mining.

Lift station control enclosures
IDX Inc. converted from metal to non-metallic enclosures for its water/wastewater lift station controls. Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures feature SolarGuard, a patented sheet molding compound formulation that provides molded-in UV resistance. A dead front panel, designed to obscure the view of circuitry or devices, includes spring-loaded releasable hinges that simplify component mounting and panel assembly. The hinged suspended panel swings out of the way to provide full access to a panel or PC board mounting. The non-metallic enclosures can be pedestal mounted to avoid contact with lift station contaminants.
