CH2M HILL joins 40 other global companies showcased in the new Natural Capital Business Hub, unveiled at the 6th Annual GreenBiz Forum. CH2M HILL made a formal commitment to engage clients to improve environmental stewardship with green infrastructure solutions.

The Natural Capital Business Hub is a free, dynamic online resource designed to help companies uncover opportunities to enhance their bottom lines by integrating the value of natural capital into their strategy, operations, accounting, and reporting. The hub supports corporate action and collaboration by providing a curated searchable database of case studies and resources, guidance and tools, as well as connections to experts and potential partners from the corporate and nonprofit community.

The first 41 companies, representing more than $1.4 trillion in revenues, include Alcoa, The Clorox Company, Coca-Cola, Dell, Disney, Dow Chemical, Duke Energy, Ecolab, EKO Asset Management, General Motors, HanesBrands, HP, Kering, Kimberly-Clark, Lockheed Martin, Marriott International, Microsoft, New Forests, Patagonia, Shell, Tata Consultancy Services, TD Bank, Unilever, Veolia Water, Walmart Brasil, Webcor, Weyerhaeuser, and Xerox.

CH2M HILL was among the initial 24 companies that launched the Valuing Natural Capital initiative and e-report, The New Business Imperative-Valuing Natural Capital, released at Rio +20 in 2012. The hub is the culmination of intensive consultation, partnership building, and collaboration with scores of companies and organizations, led by the Corporate Eco Forum and The Nature Conservancy. It was built with support by the Natural Capital Coalition (formerly the TEEB for Business Coalition) and technical expertise from Tata Consultancy Services.

Designed to be an open and collaborative space, the hub will help companies and organizations learn from each other’s work, forge meaningful connections, and avoid duplication in their efforts to incorporate the value of nature’s assets into their businesses.

CH2M HILL Global Sustainability Practice Director Veli Ivanova said, “Sustainability challenges require collaboration and innovation, so we are pleased to partner with global sustainability leaders in the new Natural Capital Business Hub. Our commitment to promote green infrastructure in client work is closely linked to our core business and technical expertise. Our experience shows that green infrastructure can bring financial, operational, regulatory, and public benefits. CH2M HILL has expanded its commitment to a company-wide effort, and we look forward to partnering with clients in developing sustainable infrastructure solutions.”

Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), is celebrating 30 years of serving the Maryland Eastern Shore and the surrounding area in engineering, architecture, and surveying. Founded in June 1983, the company began in Salisbury, Md., with four employees in a one-room office and has grown into one of the largest full-service firms on the Peninsula, with a current staff of 79, including 26 registered professionals, in three offices across Delmarva.

Since its inception, DBF has worked to provide quality projects that improve the communities of the Eastern Shore through work that includes new and renovated buildings, wind turbines, solar farms, wastewater treatment plants, street reconstruction, and advanced stormwater management projects across Delmarva and onto the Western Shore of Maryland.

DBF’s multidiscipline capabilities have worked with more than 40 municipal and governmental clients during the last 30 years. While evolving with current technology, practices and science, DBF continues to offer many services to the community including LEED professional architecture, certified civil and sanitary engineering, traffic engineering, surveying, GIS mapping, project management, and inspection. Other services offered include multi-use site planning, hydrology, structural engineering, and 3D graphic services.

In addition to the work provided to clients in both the public and private sector, DBF has long fostered relationships in the community by providing annual scholarships to local high school students, sharing practical experience for future engineers and architects with hands-on internships for local college students, and contributing annually to charities such as The United Way, Women Supporting Women, and The Blood Bank of Delmarva.
