ASCE installs president elect
RESTON, VA. –
Randall S. Over, P.E., District 12 construction staff specialist for the Ohio Department of Transportation, was elected national president-elect of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He was installed at the annual ASCE meeting in Montreal and will take over as president in the fall of 2013.

IECA elects board members
DENVER –
The International Erosion Control Association's (IECA) membership voted to re-elect Charles R. Riling, Jr., and Brock Peters, CISEC, to the Region One 2013 board of directors. Joining Riling and Peters is new board member Craig S. Benson. Benson is currently the watershed coordinator for the Humboldt Bay/Mad River in Northern California. He will begin his term in February 2013.

AWWA releases environmental compliance guidebook
DENVER –
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) released "Environmental Compliance Guidebook: Beyond US Water Quality Regulation" to help water and wastewater utility personnel understand and comply with U.S. environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and other wastes. Each chapter covers the laws, regulations, and compliance issues for one family of environmental pollutants. The guidebook is available in AWWA's online store at http://apps.awwa.org/ebusmain/OnlineStore.aspx.

NRWA releases water operations app
DUNCAN, OKLA. –
The National Rural Water Association (NRWA) released a mobile application containing a suite of functions designed to aid operations specialists in the water and wastewater industry. The app includes 14 calculators for common water-related functions and also has access to the NRWA online resource center. The NRWA Water Operations App is available for download from iTunes and the Google Play store for $2.99.

SWEMA drafts stormwater BMP maintenance agreements, inspection checklists
ST. PAUL, MINN. –
The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association (SWEMA) drafted a new Maintenance Agreement for use by state and local government agencies in setting an ordinance requiring the maintenance of all stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs). A sample Operation and Maintenance Agreementavailable on the front page of the www.stormwaterassociation.com website under the "Spotlight" section – includes templates for inspection checklists for each type of BMP, including water quality buffers. These templates are general guidelines and may be modified by the design engineer or plan designer as needed for site-specific conditions.

PPI names 'Member of the Year'
HILLIARD, OHIO –
The Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) named Tori Durliat, director of marketing for Advanced Drainage Systems Inc., as the "Member of the Year for 2011." Durliat was selected by her peers in the Corrugated Plastics Pipe Division (CPPA). Her achievements, years of participation, and leadership of the group were cited as benchmarks of her character and devotion to the industry.
